SPRING 2019- WOODLAND DANCER EXPLORES THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DANCE, NATURE AND PASSION THROUGH THE MEDIUM OF PHOTOGRAPHY. THE PHOTOGRAPHS HAVE BEEN STAGED IN THE STYLE OF STEVE McCURRY CAPTURING HIGH CONTRAST NATURAL COLOURS AND INTERESTING COMPOSITIONS BETWEEN SUBJECT AND LANDSCAPE.
The narrative behind ‘Woodland Dancer’ is that of a young girl who has a passion to be in touch with the outside world through the art of dance. Her precious shoes enable her to turn the wilderness into a dance studio, protecting her delicate feet whilst her flamboyant skirt fits in with the beauty nature holds. The movement within the skirt transforms her into a species of her own kind; as colourful as a Bird of Paradise, as striking and elegant as a swan. As the wind howls and the birds tweet, the woodlands orchestrate a symphony of sheer natural beauty for her dance. The wind around her sweeps the Autumn leaves into an ensemble of dancers amongst her, creating a sense of comfort in her surroundings. Her stage is the algae encrusted rocks submerged amongst the free flowing waterfall and her barre is that of vines hanging from the towering trees. Behold the Woodland Dancer.
